Traffic in Ludhiana
Ludhiana has emerged not only as the most industrialized & prosperous city of Punjab, but also one of the most polluted and congested. It is quite ironic that while the standard of living of citizens here has gone up tremendously, the quality of life of the people here has suffered a consistent decline. Today Ludhiana police has been trying hard to mobilize funds for traffic improvement programs from various corporate houses and institutions. This is very healthy trend as it directly involves the people in the development activities of their city.
Ludhiana being the busiest industrial & commercial center in Punjab is facing numerous problems in traffic management. In the face of present inadequacy of infrastructure facilities in the city, the traffic police is hard to put ensures continuity in the flow of traffic. The road users have to contend with the bullock cart side by side with latest technology cars, leading to discordance in the flow of traffic.
Today Ludhiana has become notorious for increasing traffic congestion, which has led to number of road accidents, traffic snarls and jams, frayed nerves and lengthening journey to work. The valuable lives lost in the road accidents, are not only emotional losses to the relatives, but also represents an economic loss for the country.
