Ludhiana Personality :: Rakesh Bharti Mittal
Rakesh Bharti Mittal is a graduate from the YMCA Institute of Engineering. An electronics engineer by training, Rakesh Mittal has rich experience in managing evolving business operations and environments for near 30 years. In addition to spearheading the manufacturing operations of the Bharti group, Mr. Mittal is also a Director in the telecom services operations of the group, including the group flagship, Bharti Tele-ventures Ltd.
Besides industry, Mr. Mittal also involves himself with the group's community relations initiatives. He is a life trustee of Bharti Foundation, which has been set-up with the objective of promoting and supporting education, Indian culture, population control, environment, etc. He is also a member of the Advisory Board of the Bharti School of Telecommunication Technology & Management which has been established by Bharti Enterprises and Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi, one of India's best known technology institutes of global repute for developing young telecom leaders in this fast growing sector.
A member of the National Council of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) since 1999, Mr. Mittal presently heads the Northern Region of CII. Mr. Mittal is also a Member of the Information Technology Vision Group headed by the Honorable Chief Minister of Punjab. This Committee is set up to formulate Information Technology strategy for the Punjab Government.
