Ludhiana Personality :: Rakesh Pandey
Mr. Rakesh Pandey is a selfless, honest, energetic, seasoned, dedicated and devoted friend who is always at the helm of affairs to help all those who come into his contact. Besides he is a most popular social and political personality of LUDHIANA.
Born at Ludhiana on 1955 in a highly respected freedom fighter family of Mr. Joginderpal Pandey, Former Minister, Punjab.
Mr. Rakesh Pandey, an industrialist by profession, comes into active politics in 1987 as per the wishes of friends and congress stalwarts when his father Mr. Joginder Pal Pandey was assassinated in 1987, keeping in view the contribution of his family, especially of his revered father, he was appointed President, District Youth Congress Committee, Ludhiana [ Punjab].
In 1992, Rakesh Pandey was elected MLA from Ludhiana North Assembly Constituency for Punjab assembly for the first time. He has created a history in Ludhiana by winning four times continuously from this constituency. The margin of victory of 23000 votes was again a record during the 2002 election. In 1994, he was appointed as Chairman, Punjab Agro-Industries Corporation. He was elevated as President, District Congress Committee [Urban], Ludhiana in 1998 and he continued as such till 2000 and then as Secretary, Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee.
He is a dynamic reformer in fields of social and education activities. He has honor of having been associated with the following organizations in different capacities:

Above all, he also served the people as Minister of the glorious State of Punjab and represented Ludhiana in the Punjab State Cabinet of Ministers.
Under his dynamic Leadership as Minister of State, the Department of Industrial Training has revolutionized the process of giving industrial and vocational training to the youth, especially the rural youth of Punjab. A vast network of industrial/vocational institutes has been established in the States of Punjab. Previously he was holding the portfolio of Science & Technology and Horticulture Department till last election.
Mr.Rakesh Pandey is blissfully married to Mrs. Pawan Pandey and the couple is blessed with three promising sons, namely, Dushyant, Sushant and Bhisham.
