A drunk driver lost control of his car and broke the central verge and uprooted a tree before falling 10-foot deep

The incomplete building of City Center in Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar has been called unsafe by the area residents after a drunk driver lost control of his car and broke the central verge and uprooted a tree before falling 10-foot deep. The car got stuck between iron rods and pillars. The basement is more than 200 foot deep. The driver, Raj Kumar who lives in H block of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, however did not get hurt and refused to comment on how the incident occurred.

The car was owned by Jalandhar-based BJP leader. His nephew Raj Kumar had purchased the car from him a few days ago which still had temporary number even after 3 years of its purchase. The reports indicated that Kumar was drunk and he went out at 1.30 am to take ice-cubes when he lost control of the vehicle and the incident occurred. The issue, however, took a political hue when former Congress councillor Satwinder Singh Jawaddi along with his supporters protested and demanded iron grills to be installed outside the incomplete structure so as to avoid such incidents.

Sources, however, indicated something fishy because the car was badly damaged but the driver escaped unhurt.  The police are not investigating the case as no complaint has been
