Lamhe - A Musical Evening was organized by Dhvani Cultural Society Ludhiana
A Musical evening 'Lamhe', dedicated to famous playback singer Mahendra Kapoor, was organised by Dhvani, a cultural society, at Punjabi Bhavan, Ludhiana. Mahendra Kapoor, who died recently at the age of 74 years, had lent his voice to a numerous popular songs including the ones penned by Sahir Ludhianvi and Shiv Kumar Batalvi.
The programme started with the welcome of the audience by Kanwaljeet Singh Sidhu on behalf of Dhvani. Dr Vikram set the mood of the evening as he sang the famous composition of Mahendra Kapoor written by Sahir "Na Moonh Chhupa Ke Jiyo." Rashi sang a song "Usko Nahi Dekha Hamne Kabhi" from film Dadi Maa. Another number was sung by Arun Vasudeva "Badal Jaye Agar Mali." It was Dr Vikram again with another famous Sahir song from Humraaz "Kisi Pathar Ki Moorat Se." Randhir changed the course from Hindi to Punjabi and sang a composition of Shiv Batalvi "De Ja Meri Qalam Nu Ik Hore Hadsaa." Randhir also sang the memorable of Sahir from film Gumrah "Aap Aye to Khyaal-e-Dil Nashad Ayea." Zinia sang the famous Batlvi's song "Peeran Da Paraga Bhun De." Randhir sang another of Sahir’s famous "Chalo Ik Baar Phir Se Ajnabee Ban Jaei Hum Dono." Dr Vikram and Zinia sang one of the most memorable Punjabi duets of yesteryears from film Pind Di Kuri "Layeea Tan Tore Nibhavin, Chhad Ke Na Jaanveen." The programme ended with a memorable parting song "Aaj Ki Mulaqaat Bas Itni" from film Bharosa. Shri Kuldeepak Chiraag had scripted the programme while Mrs Kamlesh Gupta conducted the show.
Usha R. Sharma, Secretary (Animal Husbandry, Fisheries and Dairy Development) Government of Punjab was the chief guest on the occasions while Dr Darshan Singh Syal (Director, Fisheries) was the guest of honour. Usha R. Sharma, who herself is a poet of caliber, besides a senior bureaucrat, herself recited some of her poems on the occasion.
