Health Care Facilities in Ludhiana
To the North of Delhi, Ludhiana has emerged as one of the leading health care centres. Given the extent of the private hospital network in the city, it has even relegated the Chandigarh to a second place in this sector. In the recent past, there has been a phenomenal growth of charitable hospitals and private nursing homes with super specialty facilities, albeit at a phenomenal cost.
You name a medical facility and it will be available in this city, otherwise known the world over for its small scale industry, especially woolens. Be it treatment for a spinal injury, an open heart or bypass surgery, neuro-surgery, plastic surgery or some psychiatric treatment, it is all available in Ludhiana. Besides, there is a super-specialty hospital for cancer patients run by a leading industrial house on a charitable basis.
Christian Medical College and Hospital is the oldest of all. The hospital has almost all major superspeciality facilities like the Cardiac unit, Nephrology, Neurology, Burns unit, Plastic Surgery and Micro surgery. It also deals with all kinds of dental problems. The college authorities have also arranged a dental van to educate masses in the remote villages.
Dayanand Medical College and Hospital is another charitable hospital in the city which is equipped with the latest machinery and technology. Similarly, the DMC has the superspeciality wings of Gastroentrology, Nephrology, Neurology, Neuro Surgery, Urology, Transfusion Medicine, Renal Transplant, Psychiatry, Plastic Surgery, Physiotherapy, Paediatric Surgery, Oncology and Endochronology.
DMC had added another milestone to its history- Hero DMC Heart Institute. According to the management, the heart institute has the best facilities, latest technology and renowned surgeons to its credit. The institute has the facilities for treadmill test, colour doplar, echocardiograqphy, Transesophageal and Stress echocardiography, bypass, valve replacement, congenital heart disease surgery, angiography, stent implantation, pacemaker replacement and balloon valvo-plasty.
Not only the DMC but Sigma Heart Institute provides the same facilities of cardiac care to patients suffering from various Coronary Artery Diseases (CAD).
Satluj Hospital, the first corporate hospital in Punjab, has most super specialties facilities and a Trauma Centre. The hospital authorities claim to deal with all kinds of trauma.
Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital is another charitable hospital, well-equipped with the latest techniques and super specialties of Plastic Surgery, Gastro-Enterology and Neuro Surgery. The cost of treatment is nominal as compared with other hospitals.
Mohandai Memorial Oswal Cancer Hospital is one of the biggest cancer hospitals in this region and the only of its kind. The charitable hospital is run by some leading industrialists of the city. The hospital has all the modern facilities like Gama labs, Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), CT Scan. The treatment is available at a reasonably low cost to patients.
The city has a number of other charitable and private hospitals like Raghunath Charitable Hospital, Deepak Memorial Hospital, Pahwa Hospital, Deep Hospital, Arora Neuro Centre, SAS Grewal Mediscan Hospital, are serving patients.
Last, but not least, recently another hospital has come up on the GT Road , on the city’s outskirts. It is being set up by the Namdharis in collaboration with the world famous Apollo chain of hospitals.
